Autumn Steam Sale – Day 3

I like weekends. I get to sleep in. Walk around the house in my underpants. Catch up with friends. Go to the local shopping complex and buy required items for the future, like new socks. How good are new socks? They are pretty good! I also enjoy playing video games on the weekend.

This makes the Steam sale very relevant to my interests. Day 3 has seen the most purchases from me so far. There’s a couple of games I’ve been eyeing off, waiting for them to come on sale and today it happened!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – $29.99 USD 50% Off
I’ve never been the biggest fan of The Elder Scrolls. I appreciate the games, but I’ve never really enjoyed them. This will still be a big seller today and without trying to sound like a PC elitist, the PC version is the best version of the game. There is so much community created stuff for this game it’s amazing. Some of the graphic enhancement mods can make the game look stunning and there’s a mod to turn Mudcrabs into Zoidberg. What more could you want? The DLC is all 50% off as well, so something else to consider.

War of the Roses – $14.99 USD 50% Off
I’ve had a lot of fun with this game. It’s a first person medieval came that is easy to play but very hard to master. You can tailor your class to your specific wants and needs. There are still a few bugs and last time I played it the servers were still a little unstable, but for this price I highly recommend picking it up if your after some team based good times.

Saints Row The Third – $9.99 USD 75% Off
This game has been on sale so many times if you don’t already own it it’s probably because you’re not interested in it. Essentially a less serious Grand Theft Auto game, it’s a solid, enjoyable open world game. Imagine Grand Theft Auto directed by Michael Bay. That’s Saints Row The Third. You can also get Saints Row The Third – The Full Package for a couple of bucks extra ($12.49 USD) which I would recommend if you are going to pick it up. All DLC is also 75% off.

Transformers – Fall of Cybertron – $24.99 USD 50% Off
I haven’t played this one myself and purchased it just before. I enjoyed War on Cybertron (which is also 75% and only costs $4.99 USD, so grab that if you don’t own it) and I’ve heard Fall of Cybertron just improves on it. I think the multiplayer scene is dead which is a shame, but it’s my understanding that it is a very solid game. It goes some amazing reviews. Plus it’s robots beating the crap out of each other.

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition – $11.99 USD 70% Off
I loved Crysis 2. It was one of the few games I actually finished last year. It’s not for everyone though. People expecting the freedom of Crysis will be disappointed. It is a corridor shooter. But it’s a very wide corridor. You’re free to to play the game however you like. It also looks amazing with the HD texture pack and DX11 features, but it will strain your PC if it’s not a powerful machine. Thankfully these are optional features. The entire Crysis series is on sale, so if it’s something you’ve always wanted to check out now might be a good chance. $4.99 USD for Crysis, $5.99 USD for Crysis Warhead, $11.99 USD for Crysis Maximum Edition (Crysis + Crysis Warhead) or $23.99 USD for the entire Crysis collection (Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2)

Farming Simulator 2013 – $14.99 USD 50% Off
The fact that this is number 22 in the Steam sales chart at the moment scares me. I hope to god it’s troll gifts. Please let it be troll gifts. Having said that, IGN gave it 7.1/10. Not that that means much but yeah. Buy at your own risk.

As always, day 2 deals are still available, so here’s a quick round up on what’s on offer and if it’s worth buying.

ARMA II: Combined Operations – $14.99 USD 50% Off – CONSIDER
Max Payne 3 – $22.49 USD 75% Off – BUY
Awesomenauts – $3.39 USD 66% Off – CONSIDER
Portal 2 – $4.99 USD 75% Off – BUY
Sleeping Dogs – $24.99 USD 50% Off – CONSIDER
Prototype 2 – $34.99 USD 50% Off – AVOID

BUY = You need this game in your life
CONSIDER = Pricing may not be the best or the game may not be for everyone. Do your research.
AVOID = Don’t bother. It’s either a bad game or the price is too high. Or both.

And that’s day 3 done and dusted. Now, if you’ll excuse me I have some games to play and some lounging to do.

Until tomorrow fronds!

  1. Considering Cakeface owns every single game on Steam, you can probably trust his opinion here…
