The Dark Knight’s latest adventure may be gracing the Wii U, but users won’t be getting all of the content.
In another case of disappointment for Wii U owners, Warner Bros have shown off the multiplayer mode for Arkham Origins for 360, PS3 and PC. But (not) so oddly in the announcement, the Wii U was missing and it stuck out like a sore thumb. Later on, Warner Bros were asked about the multiplayer mode and where the Wii U fit into all of this, their response was as follows.
MP (multiplayer) will be available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The team is focusing development efforts on platforms with the largest MP audience.
With larger audiences on those platforms, it does make sense that there would be a big focus on making sure the multiplayer works and operates great on these systems, but it would have been nice to include it on the Wii U wouldn’t it? I’m at the point now with the Wii U that I don’t even get mad or upset upon hearing news like this now. Sure it is sad to hear, but with all the negativity and crap thrown on the system, I just feel unfazed by whatever we get told now.
And the blame isn’t on Third Parties alone, Nintendo hasn’t helped the situation either. They should be out there bringing great games to the system, showing off that it is a system to develop and put time and money into, to show the big AAA developers that it’s worth developing on. It just feels that Nintendo was hoping they might have another Wii on their hands. But without a compelling first six months of games and their big releases coming so late after launch, I can’t help but feel that they could have held off launch a month or two to really make sure they wouldn’t fall into this trap.
I was genuinely excited and believed Nintendo when they talked about making sure they didn’t repeat past mistakes and that their launch line up would be strong and sell the system. The cracks started to show when games that were announced for the system either didn’t release, got delayed or cancelled on the system. When Rayman Legends was delayed and announced for other systems I was shattered, but understood the decision. But the hits kept coming. There is a glimmer of hope with the line up of games planned for the rest of the year, but it may not be enough. Who knows?
I love Nintendo and I love my Wii U, but at this point I’m just not even emoting about news like this. I hope everyone enjoys the Multiplayer! I sure want to punch people in the face with my batfists, but alas, it’s just a dream now…
